This just arrived today. My argon tank is shipped and on it's way. I'm so stoked because I needed this to finish the project that is behind me in this picture. So, next week I'll be practicing TIG welding and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally. It's been almost a year ago I had the idea and started working on it. I've had to teach myself hammer forming sheet metal and now TIG welding. However, the end result is going to be really freakin' cool.

Do you live in a place that doesn't have a ceekay or praxair, or any other gas company that you could pick one up?

Being in a city, spoiled that I can swap out a tank as long as I get there before they closed at 5.

We have them, but I found a bottle online that was cheaper and bigger (from weldfabulous.com). Got an 80CF for $159 + shipping. Arcnet wanted $195+tax for a 60CF. Once it arrives, I'll take it and swap it for a full one at Linde (near my office).

holy crap that is awesome! I need to buy me a tig machine does this one do AC/DC cuz I need aluminum welding abilities. I would be happy to hear how this works out for your and your experience with it because it is about the only TIG I can afford...something about buying a welder that costs more than my car is wrong.

It's DC only. The AC/DC version is a bit more. I couldn't justify a Miller right now, so I got this to finish my project and get it sold, and eventually I'll upgrade. It's not fancy, but it will let me weld up the patches and the frame for my project. I'm keeping track of the project and will make sure I post updates.

Check out Eastwood, this one was on sale for $499. I don't remember what the AC/DC cost.

saving money is where its at. Yeah the initial investment of the bottle is tuff. Patience, some have none.
